Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like whitewashed tombs which on the outside appear beautiful but inside they are full of dead men's bones and all uncleanness. Even so you too outwardly appear righteous to men but inwardly you are full of hypocrisy and lawlessness. - MATTHEW 23:27-28
Scientists got aboard a diving craft and plunged into one of the deepest parts of the ocean. A light suddenly caught a glimmer far away. Eagerly, they steered the craft toward the glistening object, only to discover beer cans!
God didn’t intend the magnificent oceans to be a trash receptacle, yet that’s how they are used constantly. The human body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, says Paul. (1 CORINTHIANS 6:19) The body is the “outer court,” the soul the “inner court. Ah, but the spirit, symbolized by the heart, is the “Holy of Holies,” where God is to be enthroned.
When you and I take in moral garbage, spiritual perversions, the fables, lies and myths of the world, these things litter our hearts like beer cans trashing the sea floor or worse, the Holy of Holies being used as a garbage bin! Watch what you take into your heart, because you may be trashing the holy place.
Use PHILIPPIANS 4:8 as a prayer guide, devoting your heart to be focused on that which is honorable, right, pure, lovely, and of good reputation.
