“And one called out to another and said, ‘Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord of hosts, the whole earth is full of His glory.’” - ISAIAH 6:3
One of my favorite chapters in the Old Testament is Isaiah 6, which describes the prophet Isaiah’s vision of the Lord on the throne of the universe. Angels are hovering around the throne and each angel has six wings. With two they covered their feet, and with two they flew. What did they do with the other two wings? They covered their faces. Even angels cannot look upon the form and the face of Almighty God.
When Isaiah saw that vision of the Lord, he cried out that he was a man with unclean lips. In the presence of God, everything that has been hidden is brought into the light. Too often we forget the true awesomeness of God. We need to take time to meditate on the holiness of God, and the radiance of God, and the omnipotence of God. Then we should pause and thank Him for the wonder that is ours – that because of the shed blood of His Son, Jesus – we can draw near, with confidence, to the very throne of grace.
