“You look for much, but behold, it comes to little; when you bring it home, I blow it away.” - Haggai 1:9
On a visit to America, former Russian Premier Nikita Khrushchev was taken to a pro football game. Following the game, he was asked what he thought of American football. He replied, “Never have I seen such first-class passion and energy wasted on a third-rate cause.” The truth is we can … and do … spend too much energy, passion, and emotion on “third-rate causes.” They’re not bad things – they’re just not the best things.
What if we transferred that energy and passion to studying God’s Word, witnessing, or serving in the body of Christ? What if our passion for the least, the last, and the lost of this world exceeded our passion for self? So let me ask you – Is there a “third-rate cause” that is consuming too much of your time and energy? Confess it to God and ask Him to show you how and where to redirect your efforts.
